I like for my paintings to have a distinct personality... an essence of their own.
Each is a visual representation of a theme, laid bare on canvas. The theme is always a feeling. To give them character, varied elements are layered and blended into the theme. The completed piece is honest, personal and invites the viewer to 'look again'... and what better subject to look at than the human body, the most fascinating masterpiece in existence. Through our bodies we experience sensations, respond to stimuli and react to our desires... an infinite source of inspiration.
Schooling has been instinctual. By learning to trust my inner light, I have learned to be truthful with what I convey on canvas. This, in return, makes for the most rewarding feeling one can experience: complete gratification.
I hope you see the inner light in them as well.
